Why warranty matters on used engines
We completely understand why a used BMW engine can feel like a big step — you are spending real money, and you want to feel confident rather than stressed. That is exactly why a clear written warranty matters so much to us.
At Bavarian Engines, we stand behind the inspection work we do before dispatch. Our standard coverage is 6 months from purchase, and it is there to give you breathing room if something internal shows up that should not have been there when the engine left our hands.
Think of it less as fine print, and more as a handshake: we want you and your workshop to install with confidence.
What is usually covered
- Internal mechanical issues that were not caused by damage after the engine reached you
- Problems that tie back to the condition we documented before sale, where reasonable
- Helpful documentation if your workshop needs to explain a diagnosis to us

What is not covered
We also want to be upfront and kind about what falls outside warranty, so there are no surprises later. Things like incorrect installation, overheating because the cooling system was not refreshed, bad fuel, or transport damage signed for as received are normally excluded — not because we are strict, but because those situations are outside what we can control once the engine leaves us.
Keeping install invoices, photos on arrival, and a simple log of first start dates really helps if you ever need to make a claim. Your workshop will thank you, and so will we.
Extended warranty options
If your donor engine is under around 100,000 km and you would like a little extra reassurance, just ask us before checkout. We can often arrange extended coverage on a case-by-case basis, and we will explain it in normal language — no pressure, no rush.
When does warranty start?
For most orders, coverage begins on the purchase date shown on your invoice. If we agree something different in writing (for example a hold until your workshop is ready), we will say so clearly on your paperwork.
